Curating a varied and vibrant book list for Lonely Planet
I have created and art directed more than 150 titles for Lonely Planet, creating unique covers and stylish interiors for various audiences covering travel, food and wellbeing. I have variably commissioned bespoke photography and illustration, and illustrated covers myself, and my books have been published globally.
Cover design and successful branding are make or break factors, and various titles have enjoyed number 1 bestseller success. Ultimate Travelist achieved the largest ever sales of any Lonely Planet title, selling more than a million copies. Other big sellers have been the Epic series and Where To Go When. Around the World in 80 Food Trucks won an award in the National Geographic Traveller Reader Awards 2019 in the Beyond the Recipe Book category.
For each project I designed and developed the cover and internals whilst maintaining a strict brand style guide, so that the book could be effectively promoted across different marketing channels. I also produced digital display, press advertising, infographics, banners and promotional materials for the majority of these titles.
